Description
Here is a STILL sealed original copy of Children Of The Future by The Steve Miller Band on a a USA Capitol SKAO 2920 vinyl LP pressing. Please read the description of the jacket differences I found to determine the near vintage of this copy. The jacket is a pro VG+ but only for a small impression in the spine about midway, otherwise this is a near mint jacket. There are no dings dents, ring wear, splits, cuts, crinkles, rips or tears. There is an unusual dot punch in the upper right corner that spells the word “FREE” making this a possible promo copy, but it would only be a designate promo, not a white label. I don’t think Capitol ever did white labels for promo copies. NOW, for the probable vintage on this copy, it is either an original rainbow border black label or a second pressing green label. This is because I happen to own a mid 1970’s copy of this album and there are differences on the jacket that indicate so. First and foremost, my jacket, also an open gatefold design, has the words “A Capitol Re-Issue Originally Released in 1969, and is a red label copy. THIS jacket does not have that written on it. My jacket has the mid 1970’s Capitol circle logo in the upper left corner, THIS copy does not, it has the original Capitol oval logo with the capitol building on top and this is on the top center of the jacket and has the words “STEREO” above that. On the rear, my jacket has the newer circular logo and EMI in a rectangle on the top center alsong with the same catalog number. THIS copy has the original Capitol logo and EMI on the top center in a rectangular box, no catalog number. This is off to the top right corner on this copy. Lastly, my copy does NOT have the song list across the rear bottom as THIS copy does. This copy looks like an original jacket to me and even though it does the vintage cannot be certain as record companies were also in the conservative practice of using existing paper stock when doing a re-press. The best indications are that this might be an original or a green label. This is a great album by Miller and was back when Boz Scaggs was in the band.
