Steve Hillage - 4 x LPs Fish Rising, Motivation Radio, Green, Live Herald.

Record 1: Fish Rising Description: Debut studio album from Steve Hillage recorded shortly before Gong split and released in 1975. Many of the musicians on this album were fellow Gong bandmates, Mike Howlett (bass), Pierre Moerlen (drums), Tim Blake (keyboards), Didier Malherbe (saxophone) and Miquette Giraudy (backing vocal and keyboards) with Dave Stewart (organ and piano) and Lindsay Cooper (bassoon). The album spent three weeks on he UK chart peaking at No.33. It was originally released with the catalogue number V2031 but was re-issued as OVED 28 usually on a grey coloured label with corresponding matrices and number printed on the reverse. This copy is a re-issue but on the red and green coloured labels and the matrices include a scored through original matrices. The reverse sleeve has the original catalogue number (V2031) covered with a round adhesive label printed OVED 28.  Supplied in its original part-varnished single sleeve (fully varnished on the reverse, half varnished front) and original printed plain white liner. The vinyl is also supplied in a new poly-lined white paper liner. Format: Stereo Black Vinyl Label: Virgin (Red/Green labels).  Cat. Condition: Vinyls:  Record: Excellent. Probably on the plus side of excellent. Visually the vinyl retains a lovely sheen. There are a couple of very light hairline scratches around the edge on both sides, only visible in oblique light. These are innocuous. Both sides play perfectly. Sleeve: Very Good. Probably on the plus side of very good. Evidence of light to moderate use. There is some light scuffing to the edges and corners. A few short, very light spidery creases emanating from the spine and a light hairline crease to the towards the top left corner.  Liner: Supplied with its original printed (DRG Packaging Bags, British Patent No.1125555.Made in Great Britain)  plain paper liner in very good condition. The vinyl is also supplied in a new white paper poly-lined liner.
Record 2: Motivation Radio Description: Third studio from Steve Hillage released in 1978. The musical style is intentionally punkier and funkier than his previous two releases. To this end he recruited a new rhythm section of Joe Blocker (drums) and Reggie McBride (bass). Co-songwriter Miquette Giraudy adds vocals and synthesiser. Hillage also hired Malcolm Cecil of the pioneering electronic duo Tonto's Expanding Headband to engineer and produce the album. He also contributed playing his hand-built polyphonic synthesiser, the first of its kind, which he played with Tonto. By all accounts it is rather cumbersome instrument being about the size of a small caravan. The album grazed UK chart top thirty peaking at No.28.  Supplied in its original unvarnished single sleeve and original printed paper picture liner. These are innocuous. Both sides play perfectly. Sleeve: Very Good. Probably on the plus side of very good. Evidence of light to moderate use. There is some light scuffing to the edges and corners. A light crease parallel and adjacent to the spine on the front.  Liner: Supplied with its original printed paper picture liner in very good condition. The vinyl is also supplied in a new white paper poly-lined liner.  
Record 3: Green Description: Fourth studio from Steve Hillage released in 1978, just seven months after his previous album. Hillage and Giraudy had most of the material already prepared as it was written at the same time as "Motivation Radio" and continues the rockier funkier than direction of the previous release. Much of the album was recorded alone in his studio in Dorking, Surrey utilising a Roland GR500 guitar synthesiser for his superb guitar work. Joe Blocker remained to play drums and Curtis Robinson Jr. took over on bass and Miquette Giraudy adds vocals and synthesiser. Hillage also recruited Pink Floyd's drummer Nick Mason to engineer and produce the album. He also contributed drums (albeit rather minimal) to "Leylines To Glassdom". The album spent eight weeks on the UK chart  peaking at No.30.  Supplied in its original embossed, varnished single sleeve and a French (not the original liner) printed paper picture liner. It also contains its original colour lyric sheet insert. The vinyl is also supplied in a new poly-lined white paper liner. Format: Stereo Black Vinyl Label: Virgin (Red/Green labels).  Cat. There are a few (about half a dozen) very light hairline scratches around the edge on both sides and a couple of very light surface marks, only visible in oblique light. These are innocuous and do not affect the audio. Both sides play perfectly. Sleeve: Very Good. Evidence of moderate use. There is extensive scuffing to the spine edges and corners. Half a dozen short, spidery light hairline creases emanating from the spine. A few minor surface blemishes ( white spots).  Insert: Excellent. There is some light creasing to the bottom edge and slight wear to the corners. Liner: Supplied with a contemporaneous but mismatched original French printed paper picture liner in good condition. It has a single sheet tear to the top right corner. The vinyl is also supplied in a new white paper poly-lined liner.
Record 4: Live Herald Description: Part live and part studio double album released in 1979. Following the frantic pace of extensive touring both the USA and UK and writing and recording of the previous two albums, Hillage took some time to take stock. He spent his time selecting live recordings taken from concerts in the UK in 1977 and 1978. Side four consists of four new tunes recorded at Sawmills, Fowey in Cornwall during 1979. The album spent five weeks on the UK chart peaking at No.54. Supplied in its original unvarnished gatefold sleeve. There are no original liners. The vinyl is supplied in new poly-lined white paper liners. Format: Stereo Black Vinyl Label: Virgin (Red/Green labels).  Cat.
