The Dan's 'Greatest Hits Live' album is compiled from three selected performances, two from their 'All American Tour' of 1974, and one of their 1993 reunion tour. To celebrate the legacy of Steely Dan, Get Yer Vinyl Out selected their greatest hits live on stage beautifully restored and professionally remastered. The record is housed in a deluxe gatefold, and features extensive liner notes along with exciting artist pictures. Tracks taken from the live FM-radio broadcast performaces at University Of California, Irvine, CA, March 10th 1974 KSAN-FM, The Record Plant, Sausalito, CA, March 20th 1974 KMET-FM and Riverport Amphitheater, Maryland Heights, MI, September 1st 1993 KLLT-FM. Records are pressed with randomly mixed color compound.

Casting a net over a recording career that spans over 20 years to capture the essence of the Becker/Fagen songwriting vortex is a hard task, but remains highly rewarding work for the compiler and joy for the listener. Thus, the two selected performances

here from the ‘All American Tour’ of 1974 combine highlights from their first four albums with their signature classic Do It Again rounding off the 1972-74 timeline. Their return to the stage in 1993 was a hotly anticipated event and saw a broader line-up, bringing back classics from the 1975-1980 period of studio isolation. However, it was clear that the real stars of Steely Dan’s 1993 reunion tour weren’t simply Becker and Fagen alone, but the songs themselves, those gorgeously crafted pop confections; all sleek surface and clandestine passion. When music is this timeless, the word nostalgia doesn’t cut it.
