ATTENTION all viewers and prospective bidders. For those of you who have been following my auctions recently for the last couple of months you no doubt noticed that I highlighted the fantastic German Green Brain Metronome label with many fine offerings from it. Although primarily comprised of German groups there were a few great English bands (Caravan, Greenslade, Khan and Spirogyra) who had records released on the label also as the official German counterparts to their native UK issues. I realized way back in the 1970's when I was originally buying many of these releases new when they were first released, that frequently the German pressings were not only superior to the UK ones in fidelity but in some cases the mixes and/or production appeared to be somewhat different and superior as well. When I first bought Caravan's For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night new it was a UK Deram release. When I found it on Brain Metronome some months later I swear that I heard music that I never even knew was there on the Deram issue and I subsequently sold my Deram copy and bought a second German Brain copy which I also did with Khan-Space Shanty. Soon I plan to offer some of these English rock on Brain duplicates I've archived but to start off with I'm offering the ONLY UK band's release on Brain that ONLY came out this way because it NEVER had an original release in England at all unfortunately.
Purchased: NEW. Classic 4th and final LP by this superb band who mutated from a fine psychedelic and sometimes jazzy blues based band on their first 3 albums into a psychedelic space rock band here. Pared down to essentially a trio now with additional guests also like Garth Watt-Roy on lead vocals from the Greatest Show On Earth this features guitarist extraordinaire Martin Pugh later in Armageddon and masterful drummer Mick Bradley present since their second album, along with x-Renaissance bassist supreme Louis Cennamo who joined here and also continued into Armageddon 3 years later with x-Yardbirds/Renaissance frontman Keith Relf who's also listed as a guest on this. Had Michael Bradley not died from leukemia less than a year after this extraordinary recording it's quite possible that Steamhammer may have continued longer, but it's certain that he would have been the drummer in Armageddon as well, despite the excellence of Bobby Caldwell who came from the superb Johnny Winter And and Captain Beyond. Although Armageddon also ended pre-maturely due to Keith Relf's fluke electrocution in his own home studio, it still showed many similarities to and was essentially an extention & continuation of what was enacted on this final Steamhammer release. In all honesty IMHO these releases not only have never been surpassed much less equaled in the annals of rock music history to date for the territory they mined musically, but they essentially rendered heavy metal music obsolete before it ever even was a category or happened, much the same as I claimed Third World War did with punk. However, regardless of anyone's opinions, I cannot emphasize strongly enough the superior musicianship present by these 3 virtuosos here on this masterpiece! There were many bands that were more successful economically as well as more famous, however for pure musical prowess these 3 individuals were titanically endowed and there are relatively few household name musicians from ANY bands who could compare, much less compete with this onslaught. I used to halfway joke with many friends back in the early to mid-70's (although I was quite serious and they all agreed with me) that actually Armageddon showed no real further progress from Speech musically and I was actually initially slightly disappointed with the album which in retrospect I came to revere. However I still say that Speech was the disaster happening, whereas Armagedon was the aftermath, so which is more intense?! Going through the war itself or sitting in the wasteland experiencing the fallout after the fact?! Viewing the covers of each album aptly depicts the essence of the experiences and serves to underscore my point. Too bad we can't lace the water supplies of all of the war mongers, lying polititians and corporate scumbags worldwide with some potent LSD and blast them into awareness with this tour de force. Maybe then they'd not only realize the wickedness and wastefullness of their predatory ways, but really appreciate what real power is because war, abuse and deceit are no match for love and great music and never will be!
Label/# + Year of release/Date of pressing: ORIGINAL German Green Brain Metronome 1009/1972.
Cover condition: Externally laminated M gatefold has a few minor creases near edges.
Spine: Crisp fully legible M but no text.
Inner sleeve: M- original white paper to which I've added a sheer plastic liner to protect the vinyl better.
Record condition: Appears M- with some hairlines/minor sleeve wear and plays the same with little discernible backround noise/clicks of any kind throughout. I went through about 5-6 copies of this and the beginning introductory segment on side 1 with prominent bowed bass by Cennamo always had a little surface/backround noise so accept that as inevitable despite being cleaned on a VPI HW-17.
Label/condition: Both are M.
Matrix #'s: Available on request.

THANKYOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING & INTEREST AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!
INVOICES: It is not my policy to send out invoices unless or until requested. This is because I don't want to rush people to pay in case they're wanting to potentially win another item or items and take full advantage of my combined shipping offer. I can't predict what else someone might want to bid on and I don't necessarily know from one week to the next what I'm going to list for sale from my collection. However if you don't want to wait then feel free to pay for your item(s) won at any time. All information is in my listings for the proper shipping costs depending upon where you are located. If you're not sure then please e-mail me for confirmation and I will gladly send you an invoice. Please do not abuse my grace period for paying within 2 weeks or just let me know if you're having a problem so we can work it out. I'm friendly and understanding and THANKYOU FOR BEING CONSIDERATE! However, I reserve the right to either relist any item or offer it to the runner up bidder if you don't pay for it within the alloted time period and play by the rules. If that happens then I will not allow you to bid in future auctions of mine.

Thanks once again for your understanding in my efforts to serve you all to the best of my ability.
PLEASE NOTE: This pricing was formulated in 2008 the last time I sold records on e-bay, so I may make some slight adjustments if current rates are different. MY PRESERVATION POLICY on many records that I revered was simple and I share it with you now so that you understand why you take virtually no risk buying from me providing the album was bought new and not used originally. When I'd buy a "new" album and it was something I liked a lot and still available (most of my new albums were purchased in the early-mid 1970's!) I'd initially play it between 15-25 times to become familiar with it and then sell it to a friend as a still EX+ well preserved nice copy. (Adding outer & inner plastic sleeves was standard procedure additionally limiting cover wear and/or hairline paper sleeve marks.) Then I'd buy another new copy and in some cases if a particular favorite then yet another, meaning that I only played the 2nd copy (now my 1st) 5-10 times and the 3rd (now my 2nd if I kept 2) once or twice, always initially taping or now in more recent years currently burning to disc 1 copy within the first couple of plays thus significantly limiting play to this day on most of my lps. I did/do this with many single copy rarities as well so most play was/is on tapes or cd-rs. I bought a lot of CDs of favorite things also which further helped preserve my vinyl and limit play of much of it. Sometimes I also acquired rare British and European vinyl which I never saw imported in stores and sold new in the United States or Canada from contacts I established through mail correspondence during the 1970's. I developed contacts in England, France, Germany, Holland & Norway. Be aware that the MAJORITY of albums or occasionally 45's that I list ARE FREQUENTLY my ONLY COPIES so bid accordingly as you'll not likely see most of them listed by me again.
SO, MOST OF MY ALBUMS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT NEW, STILL ACCURATELY APPEAR VIRTUALLY NEW AND UNPLAYED, AND MOST WERE HONESTLY PLAYED NO MORE THAN 5-10 TIMES AND OFTEN ONLY TWICE OR THRICE AND ARE STILL NEAR MINT!! WHY TAKE THE RISK & HASSLE WITH RETURNS EVEN IF THEY"RE ACCEPTED. SHOP HERE AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT AND DISAPPOINTMENT FROM YOUR FUTURE E-BAY VINYL TRANSACTIONS NOW!
