In 1972, 40 000 people gathered on Australia Day long weekend in a paddock (the Duncan family farm in Sunbury), just north of Melbourne to enjoy music from some 41 bands. What eventuated was a three-day celebration of Australian music and culture. The Sunbury Festival became an annual success until 1975 when the event was rained out, resulting in financial disaster.
This is an absolutely brilliant and now very rare original album which features the studio recordings by some of the artists who performed at this very first Sunbury Festival. An awesome prog-rock album containing classic songs from those legendary bands. Sadly some of these icons have recently passed on however their music is timeless and this LP represents a superb slice of Oz Rock history.
A killer of an album ….as were the Sunbury ‘live’ albums which followed in the ensuing years.
CONDITION :
Vinyl - play tested completely both sides : Looks excellent and plays even better. A few light marks only. Tracks through beaut with a great clean sound. No background noise of any consequence. No pops. No skips. Plenty of shine both sides.
Labels : Clean.
Sleeve : original laminated cover in top condition. No writing. No marks. No splits. A couple of small spine nicks at upper left.
