Description

This is the original 1st label Mercury Stereo Box set of Starker playing Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suites 1 - 6.

The vinyl appears to have had very little play.  Full gloss on all six sides and clean labels.  Maybe two plays or so.

Includes original insert and paper sleeves.  Vinyl is in audiophile sleeves and foam sheet packing will be used for filling out the box and protecting the disks during shipping.

Disk one, side two shows noticeable handling marks.  The spindle hole is tight on this disk and it is clear that surface marks were made when the original owner tried to remove the disk after playing side one.  I have play graded sides one through four.  Sides five and six are pristine and possibly unplayed.  This set definitely qualifies as a collector's play copy.  See notes below.

The box is in as nice condition as you will find.  All corners and edges are without wear.  The fronts and back show little if any wear.  All colors are solid and fresh looking and there is none of that drying out.  There is  the unavoidable very narrow peal up on the back side of the spine label from opening the box.  The label ends right on the bend area.  No flaking and it looks like it can be glued back down, although it will certainly do the same thing again at some point.  Interior and insert clean and fresh. looking..

Vinyl Grading:

Note:  I have not cleaned these records.

Side 1: SR90445A - RFR-3,  light track one intro light surface noise quickly going to gorgeous sound. - EX visual
Side 2: SR90445A - RFR-2 - track four has three repeat pops, not clicks. I don't think it is from the handling marks mentioned above.  light track one intro surface noise with minor after that - I had no problem enjoying this side - VG visual but all on surface.
Side 3: SR90446A - RFR-1 - One "puff" sound on track one that appears to be from a very small cleanable area.    EX visual.
Side 4: SR90446A - RFR-1 - EX+ in visual and sound.
Side 5: SR90447A - M2  (1-111) - NM visual, vinyl same heavier weight as first two disks, not the flimsy weight  you often see on circle label M pressings.
Side 6: SR90447A - M3 (1-1) - NM visual

Jacket:  See above and double photo of front with different lighting.

Visual Vinyl Grading:

Mint:  Sealed or without evidenced of play

NM:  Not mint, no surface wear other than faintest of sleeve marks.  Typical of a one or two play record. Like new gloss typical of one or two plays

EX+  -  Very light surface sleeve marks at most, wear consistent with a very well cared for record. Deep gloss, typical of very light play.

EX     -  Some slight signs of wear, including light sleeve marks or a very few light surface hairlines.  No scratches. Excellent gloss, typical of light play.

VG+  -  Scattered hairlines or very light scratches, background noise possible. Excellent gloss typical of light to medium play.
