Description

For sale is a classic 1977 UK first pressing of the Star Wars Original Soundtrack – the iconic double LP that brought John Williams’ legendary score to vinyl!
Details:
• Artist/Composer: John Williams, conducted by John Williams
• Orchestra: The London Symphony Orchestra
• Label/Catalog: 20th Century Records / BTTD 541 (UK pressing, manufactured & distributed by Pye Records)
• Format: Gatefold 2xLP (double vinyl album)
• Year: 1977 (original release)
• Key Features Included:
• Full original large 4-colour fold-out poster featuring the epic Death Star trench run space battle (X-wings, TIE fighters, explosions – the classic scene fans love!) – this is the special insert advertised on the front cover sticker.
• Gatefold sleeve opens to 12 stunning full-colour stills/photos from the film (C-3PO & R2-D2, Leia, Han & Chewie, Obi-Wan vs. Tusken Raider, Cantina, Death Star interiors, etc.).
• Original “Beware of Imitations – The Only Original Soundtrack Album” sticker + “Includes Special 4 Colour Poster” sticker (with 17.3.79 date code, likely from original UK stock).
Condition (honest & detailed – please view all photos):
• Sleeve/Gatefold: Good to Very Good (VG/VG+). Some ring wear, edge scuffs, light corner/edge rubbing, minor surface scratches/discoloration from age and storage – fully intact with no splits, tears, or writing. Gatefold still strong and flat. Classic 1970s patina but displays well.
• Vinyl (both records): Good to Very Good Plus (VG/VG+). Light surface marks/scuffs from play (typical for a 48-year-old record), but no deep scratches/gouges. Tested – plays through cleanly with minimal noise/static (warm, full sound – no skips). Labels clean.
• Poster: Good used condition. Originally folded in the gatefold, then displayed (pinned up for years – see fridge photos). Visible crease lines from original packaging + some light edge toning/discoloration, minor handling wear, but colors remain vibrant, no major tears, holes, fading, or tape residue. Still a striking display piece for any Star Wars fan!
• Overall: A complete, authentic 1977 UK set – many copies lost the poster long ago, so this is a nice survivor for collectors or display. Not mint, but solid VG/VG+ grade for its age – great value as a nostalgic piece from the original Star Wars phenomenon.
Track Highlights (Side 1 / Side 2 shown in photos):
Includes all the classics: Main Title, Imperial Attack, Princess Leia’s Theme, Ben’s Death/TIE Fighter Attack, Cantina Band, Rescue of the Princess, and more!
Perfect for Star Wars collectors, vinyl enthusiasts, John Williams fans, or as retro sci-fi decor. This UK Pye pressing is scarcer than the common US 2T-541 version.
Shipping:
Carefully packed – records in new inner sleeves, poster rolled (not folded again) in a sturdy poster tube to protect it. Tracked & signed-for shipping (UK buyers preferred for lower cost; international welcome).
No returns on used vinyl – sold as-is, but happy to answer questions or send extra photos (e.g., matrix/runout etchings, play test clips if requested).
