Description
This is an original US vinyl pressing on Sound On Film #18 from 1972. The subtitle is "What Is A Man" Five Views Of A Clockwork Orange. The disk contains a debate about the movie between John E Fitzgerald, Fred M Hechinger, Dr. Emanuel K Schwartz, and Patrick Snyder. The moderator is Joseph Gelmis. This record was made to be sent to radio stations for broadcast and was never sold commercially.
This is one of the rarest recordings related to Kubrick's magnum opus and hardly ever comes up for sale.
The cover is in truly excellent condition with only a slight tear on the top left corner of the cover and slight roughness to bottom right corner (see photo) other than that the cover would be in near mint with no tears, splits, or creases which is quite astounding for 44 y/o record. The disk is good. While there are no spindle marks to the label which is in great condition the record shows many scratches from being stored outside of its sleeve. These cause constant cracks and pops throughout both sides, although they never overtake the audio which can be clearly heard throughout its entirety. There is a deeper scratch on side two that is audible for 5 minutes play time but doesn't cause a skip or repeat. There are no inserts. I have cleaned and play tested this record using a Sure M97XE cartridge.
All in all, this rare record is a brilliant display piece and has some great insight to the controversy that this movie caused from contemporary commentators of its time.
