You are purchasing an LP (TC 1251) produced by CAEDMON Records in 1968 called ALI BABA & The 40 THIEVES as told by Anthony Quayle.
Description: This rare LP is still in its original shrink wrap and so the jacket and vinyl record are assumed to be in NM/MT condition.
You will not be able to find a better LP and jacket than this one, that's how nice this collectible is.
"In the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful, creator of the Universe, who has raised the earth without pillars...With such words the story teller in some some market place of Cairo or Calcutta would, year after year,begin some favorite tale from a THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS. The tale be of how Haroun Al Rashid ' The Magnificent' walked at night, unknown, and seeking adventure among the dark,twisting alleys of Baghdad...The listeners were grey- bearded elders as well as children, and the whole crowd already knew and loved the tales....It is not hard to tell why this particular story, the tale of ALI BABA and the FORTY THIEVES should always have been so much liked and so often made into films, or acted in theaters. No one could help liking the people in it or shivering for what might happen to poor, unlucky unsuspicious Kassim if those donkeys should take into their silly heads to bray at the wrong moment. And then it is dreadful to think what what might have become of that brave and clever slave-girl Morgiana on that dangerous night among the oil jars, or when she danced--covered with jewels, but with a dagger in her hand; besides there never was a better treasure. But I mustn't run on. Its just possible that you don't already know the whole story and even if you do, just listen to the new telling of it. The voice of each story teller is always new, of course and as I said this voice that you are just going to hear is something quite special."
