Description

This is a very nice copy of Classic Records 180g pressing of Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s recording “Spain” on 4 200g 45 RPM records.  The 45 RPM set is a complete recording LSC-2230.  When I first bought this set used, the records were cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative.  More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner.  It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. The recording is very spacious and dynamic.


Sides 1 and 2 each have one small pressing flaws that look like small (< 1mm) nubs. It is in these spots that results in medium loud ticks for a few revolutions. Side 1 also has some streaks in the vinyl and a ¼” light scratch and plays mostly quietly with 44 ticks noted over the side of which most are light.  Side 2 has 2 2” diagonal light scratches at the beginning of the side and another light 2” scratch at the end of the side.  It plays mostly quietly but I noted 37 ticks – most of which are light but several are a bit louder in the spots where the nubs are located.  Side 3 has some streaks in the vinyl but plays very quietly throughout with only 5 light ticks noted over the side. Side 4 also has some streaks in the vinyl but plays mostly quietly with 35 light ticks noted over the side.


I have only played the records a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The sound is naturally open and detailed. The covers are two glossy, oversized jackets each of which hold two records.  The first jacket also holds the booklet.  The booklet is in good condition but does have a few marks.   There are no seam splits but there is some wear along the edges and some creases as well.  Only side A of each LP is pressed.  Side B is blank. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
