Sousa Saxophone Solist Jascha Gurewich-Supreme 11000
Here is one I bet you have never seen! On a 78rpm Supreme Quality 11000 (produced by Electric Recording Laboratories) saxophone soloist for Sousa's Band, Jascha Gurewich plays "Laughing Gas."
On the reverse side he plays "Emily."
This particular label seldom shows up, and when it does it almost invariably is ethnic material. I'm not aware of other 78's by Gurewich. This was probably recorded during 1925 or 1926.
He was born in Russia in 1898 and in the 20's was promoted as "The Heifetz of the Saxophone" and for a brief time was a Sousa soloist. He died in 1938.
The record is in E- to V+ condition. Labels are nice except for a small scuff near the center hole of the second side.
