Description

Sonny Rollins --A Night At The Village Vanguard--Blue Note 1581   47 West 63d NYC

Recorded 1957.

Sonny Rollins (tenor sax)

Wilbur Ware, Donald Bailey* (bass)

Elvin Jones, Pete LaRoca* (drums)

Old Devil Moon, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise, Striver's Row, Sonneymoon For Two, A Night In Tunisia*, I Can't Get Started

The cover is VG with moderate wear on the front, heavy wear on the back.   Bottom seam split app 4 inches at the pocket. Heavy wear at the corners. Small pieces of slick at top and bottom of spine and app 1/2 inch in middle of spine worn away. Heavy ring wear on back. 2 thumbnail size pieces of slick missing on the back at the bottom.  Name written on back in pen in small letters.  The record looks VG with lots of scuffs and marks.  There's a scratch through about half of "Sonneymoon" which ticks.  The grooves are not heavily worn and the music plays strong without distortion. The surface noise is of the damage, not wear type and the record is enjoyable to listen to.  Name written on the label.  "RVG" and the Plastilyte "P" aka "The Ear" in runout both sides.  Deep groove,  47 West 63rd NYC label both sides.  No address on back cover.

I grade visually using the Goldmine grading code which is M, M-, VG++ (or EX), VG+, VG, G, F, P. The highest grade I use is M-. I spot play any potential problem areas and try to grade conservatively. You will be satisfied and no hassles.
