Description

Highly sought after Sonny Clark album, the 1st press is one of the most desirable in the Blue Note 1500 series with the rare presence of John Coltrane, and Curtis Fuller is also incredible on this album.
I believe this is an early 2nd or 3rd repress from the very late 50s or early 1960s, but after searching online am still not sure of the exact year of release. The all important details of labels and back cover address can be seen in photos. It has a laminated thick card cover. It has RVG stamped and ‘9M’ etched in run-out grooves which I think means although this isn't the very first press it originates from the Van Gelder master and the marking is generally found in the 1500 series from 1956-1961. The sound is superb, loud and visceral.
The Cover is in VG+ shape, theres is some light yellowing and very light brown spots on front cover (see pics) from age. The edges and spine are sharp. No writing or marks on back just some shelf-rubbing wear.
The Vinyl is in VG+ condition, clean and a good lustre. There are a few light non-feelable scuff type marks but no scratches. Plays strong and clear with hardly any surface noise. 47 West 63rd labels.
