Sonny Clark Quintets
(Blue Note / Toshiba EMI BNJ-61016)
1984 Japan only LP issue, complete with OBI and paper insert
What is this copy:
February 21 1985 Toshiba EMI Japan only issue of Sonny Clark's unreleased sessions which was originally intended for release as BLP-1592. This BNJ-61016 was one of the “The Other Side Of BLP 1500” Series Part 3 (BNJ-61011 thru BNJ-61020), a great series of discoveries of Blue Note's unreleased gems.
By the way, the materials of BLP-1592 was firstly appeared among the world on Toshiba EMI LNJ-70093 (1976). Then Japan King released as K18P-9279 (1983, “Cool Struttin' Volume Two”). Then Toshiba EMI released this BNJ-61016 in 1985.
What's inside this LP:
Very famous “LOST” album - this LP was originally intended for release as Blue Note BLP-1592, but unreleased at the time by unknown reason.
Side-A contains bluesy and boppish tracks which were recorded in the same session as “Cool Struttin” (BLP-1588). Members include Art Farmer (tp), Jackie McLean (as), Sonny Clark (p), Paul Chambers (b) and Philly Joe Jones (ds). Recorded on January 5, 1958.
Side-B features yet another great session featuring such young talented artists as Kenny Burrell and Pete LaRoca. Members include Clifford Jordan (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Sonny Clark (p), Paul Chambers (b) and Pete LaRoca (ds). Recorded on December 8, 1957.

Cover: NM- or even mint.
Perfect mintish copy. Coated type.
Disc: NM-.
The label has very light spindle mark, otherwise in pristine condition. Looks and plays very clean.
Paper insert: NM-.
Detailed liner-notes (in Japanese) are printed on it. Small gatefold type.
OBI (a paper strap which is common in Japanese releases): NM-.
