Description
I grew up in LA and was fortunate enough to have beeninto punk from '81 to '86-ish when shows were really wild, police were out ofhand, and everything still had a very fresh, raw energy. I have a ton ofrecords from back then – a lot of them original pressings. Generally, I'd buyan album, record it to cassette, and then listen to the cassette to limit wearand tear on the vinyl, so most of what I have is in very good shape.
This specific 7” from 1981 is in very good condition. Thecover has a crease in the upper corner and an imprint from the center of therecord (see closeups), but the vinyl itself has no scratches, scuffs or defectsthat would affect play.
After a couple years of lurking, listening to Rodney on theROQ every Sunday night, I finally ventured out to my first punk gig in thesummer of 1983. It was Social Distortion at the Cathay de Grande on Argyle andSelma in Hollywood. The experience was a rude awakening to what could resultfrom the decision to actually go to a punk show back then. The special bonusyou’ll get if you buy this record from me is the story of what happened thatnight.
Social Distortion were:
- Mike Ness (lead vocals, guitar)
- Dennis Danell (guitar)
- Brent Liles (bass)
- John Carrot (drums)
