This Smashing Pumpkins Vinly 3LP set was purchased in 1998 in Germany when I was stationed overseas. It has all the markings as listed below to verify its authenticity. I am not a record expert and dont know how to grade them. What I see is what I will describe. There is a little wear on the edges of the cover. I have only played this record once and when I did that I only played 2 of the 3 records so one is unplayed. This was back in 1998 so I cant recall which I listened too. The last pic, which is hard to see, is the HUTT LP stamp that is described below. It also DOES have the Townhouse DMM handcarved as well, but I couldnt get a good picture of it.

Since there have been pirated copies of this record there seems to be some confusion surrounding this release. Which is funny because actually it's dead easy to spot a fake:
1. The Cover
ALL original copies have a small white box in the frontcover's lower right corner. There could be a number printed inside, it could simply be blank but it NEEDS to be there. Take a look at your cover : The box is missing? Congratulations, what you're holding in your hand is a counterfeit copy. Because this white box is missing from ALL pirated versions.
2. The Deadwax
ALL original copies have PRINTED matrix numbers ("HUTTLP 30 A-1-1-") with the HANDCARVED addition "Townhouse DMM". Take a look at your vinyl : The numbers are handcarved and the "Townhouse"-bit is missing completely? Congratulations, what you're holding in your hand is a counterfeit copy. Because PRINTED NUMBERS are missing from ALL pirated versions.
3. The Sound
The original was cut and mastered at London's Townhouse using Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) , the results then pressed on 180Gr quality vinyl. The source for the counterfeit most likely is a CD-R that combines the reorganized tracks from the official CD with the two bonustracks culled from vinyl. A mixture that then was pressed on cheap, inferior vinyl. Listen to the "Starlight"-side of your copy : Are there significant sonic differences between "Tonight (Reprise)", "Infinite Sadness" and the other three tracks? Congratulations, what you're listening to is a counterfeit copy. Because original copies don't have such variatons in quality.
If you keep this in mind you will see just how many copies on offer in Ebay actually are fakes. Basically you only need to look at the sleeve. Oh... and by the way: Not all of these counterfeits are on coloured vinyl, but every coloured copy IS a counterfeit too.
So.... now in describing this copy:
Original official triple album released in 1996 - months after the CD release - on Hut Records as "huttlp 30" in a gorgeous gatefold sleeve with an album sized 12 page lyric booklet this sprawling set has 30 songs spread across six individually named ("Dawn", "Tea Time", "Dusk", "Twilight", Midnight", "Starlight") sides of solid 180gr vinyl. What is unique to this release is that the tracklist has been reorganized with two bonus tracks added twoards the end: "Tonight Reprise" and "Infinite Sadness".
