Description

Bought from new soon after release, rarely played after 1974 when I discovered reggae. Matrix number XARL 7218-4A Photo is of actual cover, bit grubby on back and some handwriting.
Part of my collection that has been stored in cool conditions throughout, and will need a good clean before you play it. Record will be dispatched in a Vinyl LP Record Box Mailer, corrugated and strong, to prevent damage.

Very Good (VG) – It’s seen a bit of life, but is still usable. Light pops and clicks, an edge split, light visible scratches. You can still listen to it and enjoy looking at it, but it is visually and audibly USED.


English rock band from East London, founded in 1965 by Steve Marriott (lead vocals, guitar), Ronnie Lane (bass guitar), Kenny Jones (drums), and Jimmy Winston (keyboards). By 1966 Winston was replaced by keyboardist Ian McLagan.
 Small Faces is the debut album of the Small Faces, released in May 1966 by Decca Records. It includes the hit singles "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" and "Sha-La-La-La-Lee".
Initially influenced by American rhythm & blues, the band is remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s, with hit songs such as “Itchycoo Park”, “Lazy Sunday”, “All or Nothing”, “Tin Soldier”, and their concept album “Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake”. Eventually they evolved into one of the UK’s most successful psychedelic acts of the late 1960s before disbanding in early 1969 after Marriott’s departure. The three remaining members were joined by guitarist Ron Wood and lead vocalist Rod Stewart, both from the Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed to Faces. The original Small Faces reunited in 1975 and remained active with further line-up changes until 1978.

The album was recorded at IBC Studios, Portland Place, London between June 1965 and February 1966. Glyn Johns was the studio engineer. In 1966, the Small Faces became the eleventh biggest selling artists of the year.[6]

Jimmy Winston was asked to leave after the band's second single "I've Got Mine", released on 5 November 1965, failed to make the charts. He still appears on many tracks on this album, including joint writing contributions to "It's Too Late" and providing keyboards and vocals on various tracks. Winston's replacement, Ian McLagan, appears on the album cover and plays on various tracks as well.

Three of the tracks had been released prior to the album. These are the two aforementioned singles "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" and "Sha-La-La-La-Lee", along with the track "It's Too Late" which was issued as the B-side of "I've Got Mine", the group's second single, released in 1965.
