Description
This is a German-pressed test pressing of The Demise of Planet X, Sleaford Mods’ thirteenth album, released 16 January 2026 through Rough Trade Records — their most expansive record yet, recorded across JT Soar in Nottingham, Abbey Road, and Invada Studios, with guests including Gwendoline Christie, Big Special, Aldous Harding, Sue Tompkins, Liam Bailey, and Snowy.
Pressed at Optimal in Germany on their BioVinyl stock (plant-based PVC alternative, lower-carbon), this is one of the run of plain-sleeve test pressings cut before the coloured/picture-disc retail editions went out — the catalogue number RTO574LP is handwritten straight onto the sleeve by whoever was checking playback, which is exactly what test pressings are: quality-control copies, not for sale, existing in tiny numbers compared to the final pressing run. Rough Trade were even giving away signed ones as a pre-order competition prize, which tells you how coveted they are among collectors. Genuine plain-white test pressings rarely surface outside industry hands, so finding one loose is a proper bit of vinyl-hunting luck.
