Description

SkinYard was an American grunge band from Seattle,Washington, that was active from 1985 to 1992. The groupnever gained a mainstream audience but were an influence on severalof their grunge contemporaries, including Soundgarden, ScreamingTrees, and Green River.

In2017, Metal Injection ranked Skin Yard at number 8 on theirlist of "10 Heaviest Grunge Bands"

  • JackEndino – guitar, producer, engineering

  • DanielHouse – bass

  • ScottMcCullum – drums

  • BenMcMillan – vocals

Ledby renowned producer Jack Endino, the group issued a handful ofunderrated releases during a seven-year career, including their 1988sophomore full-length, Hallowed Ground. But don't be misled, althoughthere are indeed some tricky bits included here, it's not music thathas been slaved over in the studio and dissected -- the members' punkbackgrounds are certainly reflected in the live-in-the-roomproduction. Standouts include the album-opening "Stranger"(which musically, is comparable to early Shudder to Think),"Open Fist" (with melodic vocals that bring to mind BobMould), and the groove-y title track.
