Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.
Here is a lovely Doctor Bird UK original 45 rpm disc by Stranger Cole and the Seraphines with "We Shall Overcome" on the "A" side and "Do You Really Love Me" on the B side.
The number is DB1025 and it dates (acording to my dear good friend Mr "Diz" Cogz) from 1966. It is a GAYFEET records production.
The A side is definitely not a ska version of Pete Seeger's song from the USA Civil Rights days. It's a cheeky love song including the lyrics "When we overcome, you will wanna come over". I'd like to think that Joan Baez would have appreciated that.
"Do You Really Love Me" gets a great deal of mileage out of Van Morrison's "Here Comes The Night" riff, and is a splendid slice of Jamiacan R&B.
It is in VERY VERY clean and tidy condition. It shines like a well polished Pontefract Cake, it's as spotless as a very un-spotty thing, and it plays VERY VERY WELL.
In fact, it's as clean and un-besmirched as the girl of your dreams (depending on what your dreams are like, of course).
There is a label rip on one side, but you don't play the label, do you?
There is one very very very light storage mark (totally inaudible, un-feelable, hard to see and I really don't know why I mentioned it). A nice conservative grading, all things considered, is probably round about the strong VG+++ or even better mark and it will fill the floor at any meet-the-parents evening, any wild drunken jump-about, or any time you wish to whine and grine.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).
I'm selling most of this stuff for much less
than I paid for it.
