Ska-Au-Go-Go-LP
Studio One (Jamaica) SO 111-Mono
1967 release, 33 1/3 RPM LP, nominally credited to Rolando Al & the Soul Brothers (actually Skatalites founder and tenor sax player Rolando Alphonso. However, Alphonso and his band (two line-ups are featured here-the Soul Brothers, later called the Soul Vendors, and the Skatalites) are basically just the backing band for a number of groups and vocalists, including The Gaylads, The Soulettes, Jackie Mittoo, and 3 early cuts by Bob Marley & The Wailers (listed simply as ?Wailers?). The cover has a bare bones track list, which does not identify the artists. We have lifted the following detailed track list off the Internet:
Wings Of A Dove-Bob Marley & Wailers
Ska-Au-Go-Go-Roland Alphonso & the Soul Brothers
Big Bamboo-Gaylads
Cut Munu-Soul Brothers
Sugar and Spice-Skatalites
Pepe To-Roland Alphonso
Something Special-Roland Alphonso & the Soul Brothers
Shame and Scandal-Bob Marley & Wailers
I Should Have Known-Skatalites
Hey Senorita-Soulettes
Wives and Lovers-Jackie Mittoo & the Soul Brothers
One Love -Bob Marley & Wailers
Cover is beautifully preserved with no splits, stains, tears, creases, etc. There is little or no wear, but the back cover has yellowed (only very slightly) with age. There are great pictures of the bands, including Marley and the Wailers, on the back. Heavy vinyl disc with red and silver label is clean and glossy and has been well cared for. B Side shows a couple of light marks and one short, heavy spindle mark on track one, which causes a little popping for a few revolutions. Disc overall plays beautifully with clear sound and very little surface noise. The copy at hand is guaranteed to be an authentic Jamaican original (a souvenir from a 1960s vacation!) not a repro or re-issue. As for the music, this is vintage Ska recorded at the legendary Studio One with Jamaica?s best musicians. The LP features 3 early Bob Marley tracks including an early version of the classic ?One Love.?
Extremely rare Reggae/Ska collectible, in top condition!
