Here is the original 14 track UK LP/ Album New Cross Fire by Sir Collins from 1981. The front & back sleeve state “New Cross Fire Page One Sir Collins Pays Tribute”. Sir Collins was Charles Constantine Collins. This LP/ Album was a tribute to Steve Constantine Collins (Sir Collins’s son) who died in the New Cross Fire on 18th January 1981. Among others, the front sleeve states that the album features Bob Marley. Bob Marley’s Band certainly features, but I’m not sure about Bob himself. Housed in a card sleeve & released on Sir Collins Music Wheel, the Catalogue Number is SC 001. The record itself is housed within a plain inner sleeve. The track listing is New Cross Fire by Sir Collins & His Mind Sweepers, Shake It Up by Steven Collins/ Gary Collins, Music Machine by Steve Collins, Teach The World A.B.C. by Steve Collins/ Leona Collins, Better Must Come by Steve Collins, Everybody Knows Me by Steve Collins, Go To School by Steve Collins, United We Stand by Black Slate/ Steve Collins, Exodus by Bob Marley’s Band & Sir Collins Mind Sweepers, Tears Of Fire by Sir Collins & His Mind Sweepers, Peace And Love 1 by Sir Collins & The Sunshine Steel Band, Peace And Love 2 by Sir Collins & The Sunshine Steel Band, The More We Are Together by Sir Collins & Russ Painter & They Shall Not Die by Sir Collins & Russ Painter. Shake It Up is credited to Steve Collins/ Gary Collins on the label. I assume the package was made in England for UK release. The front sleeve is boldly signed in blue biro by C C Collins (Charles Constantine Collins/ Sir Collins).

I believe this information indicates that it comes from the First Pressing run. The Matrix Numbers are described using a clock face. The first part is the main body of the Matrix Number. It will be at 6 o’clock if it is located in front of the label with the writing curving away from me at the ends (as I look) and at 12 o’clock if it is located behind the label with the writing curving towards me at the ends (as I look). Other times give a rough idea of where additional parts of the Matrix Number are located, in relation to the main part. It’s not meant to be foolproof, just to give an idea of where the various parts of the matrix are, in relation to each other.

Condition as follows including photographs: The sleeve is in very good minus/ good plus condition, due to creasing, wear & discoloration. There is some corner & edge wear. The inner sleeve is in very good condition, due to slight creasing, slight wear & discoloration. The Vinyl is in excellent minus condition. It may benefit from being cleaned. Both sides play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. The overall sound is good/ very good. There is some surface noise throughout. It appears to be most noticeable around the start of each side, particularly on New Cross Fire & Exodus. There are some light clicks & pops here & there. I thought the surface noise was at an acceptable level. Some people may consider the surface noise invasive, while others may find that it does not affect their listening pleasure. I always expect some sound from records of this age & condition. See below for NOTES ON CONDITION*.

*NOTES ON CONDITION: I grade according to the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide & will not necessarily list all individual points in the written description. There will be a blanket grade for each component (sleeve, record etc), which smaller factors fall into. The general appearance will be clearly visible in the photographs. Please study the photographs in detail as they form the bulk of the description. Please be aware that play grading is based on my interpretation of what I hear on my system only. Although it is an honest assessment, it does not automatically follow that you would reach the same conclusion when listening on your own system, as there are so many variables. I DON’T use Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide categories when play grading, just my own judgement.
