Who is SIR COLLINS? He is a Jamaican who came to England in 1957.He was the owner of a Sound System called Collins Down Beat. He also played as the main selector and MC in the 1950s. His music career started back in Jamaica where he grew up in a musical family known as the Collins Brothers Band and The Aces. His dad was a famous calypso trumpeter and taught trumpet in the Alpha School for Boys. His mother was a vocalist. You could say music was in the Collins family blood, so much so that it has been passed down to his children who are also featured on this album. Leona sings Long Haired Lover, Steve sings Teach the World ABC and Davina sings Teach the World 123. Steve also had a single on release called Run Iron Rhythm. Unfortunately Steve died with twelve young children in 1981 in the New Cross Fire when he was playing his Sound System, Gemini. In 1973 this album, Chapter 1, was produced by Sir Collins, featuring Owen Gray, Alton Ellis, Lester Stirling, Merlin Webber, Roy Shirley, Gene Rondo, Delroy Wilson, Honey Boy, Jnr Sinclair and Sir Collins' children and friends. Side A Tracks 2,5 & 7, Side B Track 5, were instrumentals played by Bob Marley, Aston Barrett, Carlton Barrett & Chinna Smith. Finally, this year, in 2009, Chapter 1 has been revived from deep inside his vast archive by Sir Collins and his son, Gary Collins. Sir Collins pays tribute to his grandfather, father, mother and Steve Collins, and the whole of his family who have been making music for 150 years right up to today in 2009. The original text of Chapter 1 reads, "Some people say Sir Collins is an eccentric, others say he's a genius, but this LP will help prove who Sir Collins really is!".

Record grading as follows:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
