Description
An original genuine 1st press of 'Sounds of Silence' on the UK CBS label. Matrix A4/B3. Now, I can see a few other supposed '1st press' copies on E-bay..THIS..is the genuine 1st press. The labels are textured and exhibit the '33' speed. Due to a label switch very soon after 1st pressing this version is actually a bit of a difficult find. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue Ernest J day flipback cover. Please note the early Mono copies 'smoke' every other copy for audio...!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection do expect a few marks either side - nothing heavy or likely to cause issue though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. The 'mono' versions have quite a different bold reverb heavy feel to them..and I gotta say..they're cool! On acoustic numbers, as much of this album is, you have to source a decent clean copy otherwise interference is going to frustrate you. This copy is actually a clean player with only minor and infrequent interference. All we could detect was a touch of light static in a couple of sections - and certainly nothing remotely invasive. Certainly an impressive rendition of the REAL way it was meant to be enjoyed..
Cover (Ex) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. Lovely clean front with only a couple of light creases. The rear seems to have mostly avoided the usual ageing, just the faintest evidence of it. All flipbacks are secure and edge wear is light. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity thanks to its heavy card design.
