Silver Horace - Song For My Father
The Classic Vinyl Reissue Series is an ideal continuation of the acclaimed series of reprints Blue Note 80 (BN80) launched on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the blue label.
The Classic Series will therefore propose, on 180 gram vinyl printed by Optimal in Germany, great classics taken from the original tapes and mastered by Kevin Gray.
In a review of Dexter Gordon's "Doin 'Allright" of the BN80 series, the' Analog Planet 'magazine wrote, “In all respects, this reissue is a success for Blue Note, both in terms of quality and price, and we look forward to the sequel to this series as excellent as it is accessible. " In turn, 'Stereophile', in selecting Herbie Hancock's "Takin 'Off" to review the series, attributed 4 and a half stars to the title, thus motivating the vote: "The sound of this reissue is strong and articulated, with balance and definition perfect for each of the instruments. "
The first 16 releases of the series will focus on great Blue Note classics: this time an epochal album-manifesto of hard bop signed by Art Blakey and the masterpiece of the saxophonist who was 'at home' at Blue Note: Hank Mobley.

A complex gestation, divided into two sessions of recording (one in 1963, the other the following year) for a classic of hard bop. Silver's most famous album, dedicated to his father originally from Cape Verde - evoked with references to the calypso - engaged the pianist and composer at the head of two quintets with trumpet, tenor sax, piano, double bass and drums: one with Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Gene Taylor and Roy Brooks, the other with Carmell Jones, Joe Henderson, Teddy Smith and Roger Humphries.
