Hi and thank you for looking at my item -this bid is for - record - lp - album - BEETHOVEN - THE NINE SYMPHONIES - LEONARD BERNSTEIN - NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC - Columbia records- d8s-815- box set - 8 albums- Columbia masterworks - 360 sound-stereo- large bluish /black box is in excellent condition, light scuffs to corners from being stored over the years- this rare set has a copper foil embossed relief showing Beethoven's front view face on the outside of the case-the sleeve box is in excellent condition- the 8 albums are in near mint condition-does not look like it was played much at all- almost like mint condition-all albums in their original grey envelopes-there is a large 12” by 12” booklet entitled -the bernstein years-leonard bernstein, music director, new york philharmonic - 1958-59 to 1968-69-and this 8 page booklet contains great photos of bernstein with bruno walter, igor stravinsky, nadia baulanger, aaron copland, jaqueline kennedy, dimitri shostakovich, plus more -there is also a 2 page booklet/insert with the information of each of the nine symphonies by beethoven-and a one side devoted to -”how a great symphony was written” leonard bernstein discusses the first movement of beethoven’s eroica and the first movement of beethoven's fifth symphony from the cbs television network program, both with musical illustrations - the great and very cool thing about this rare set is that it is HAND SIGNED.... in black ink ..by LEONARD BERNSTEIN.... on the front of this boxed set next to the embossed picture of beethoven- but also included is the original newspaper page from the new york times, sunday december 14, 1969- with the full page ad about the personal appearance of leonard bernstein-which reads....MEET LEONARD BERNSTEIN-KORVETTES AND COLUMBIA RECORDS TAKE PRIDE & PLEASURE IN PRESENTING THE MOST EXCITING CONDUCTOR OF OUR TIME! Still an enjoyable listening but with some surface noise; G - It plays with lots of surface noise. JACKET GRADING: MINT - It looks like it has never been handled; NEAR MINT - Very sharp corners with no impacts or bends, like new; EX - Small writing and/or a small split seam and/or a small bent corner and/or light shelf wear and/or a small tear, and/or light ring wear; VG -Writing and/or split seams and/or corner wear and/or shelf wear and/or tears and/or ring wear / water stain; G/fair - Cuts and/or holes and/or missing parts.
