Rare 4-LP Soviet box set featuring composer Dmitri Shostakovich performing his own works and appearing alongside legendary collaborators including David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, Maxim Shostakovich, and Moisei Weinberg.
These are archival recordings (spanning 1947–1958), originally issued by Melodiya, the official Soviet label. This set documents Shostakovich as a pianist in solo, duo, and chamber contexts, including arrangements of his orchestral works.
