Short Cross ~ "Arising" Virginia Psych Heavy Blues Original Private LP 1972
Great Sandston, VA based early 70's Bluesy/Psych group. This is their lone LP and it's a great case of what might have been if they were in a bigger market, right people saw the band, etc. This original pressing is very scarce and comes up only a few times a year at most, don't sleep on it.
The jacket has quite a bit of staining on both the front and rear covers, the gatefold is much cleaner. There is both upper and lower seam damage and clear, packing tape has been put over areas of splitting in two places. There is also an inner gatefold seam split. There is some writing in the upper left hand cover "XL102 345-9795" denoting a Richmond, VA based radio station. Seems plausible that a band member may have written that. Corners have dings ranging from small to medium.
Original Grizly labels and spindles are very clean on both sides with very light spindle wear, indicating a record that hasn't been played a lot over the decades. The vinyl shows light to medium surface and scuff marks and light, non-feelable scratches. However, and this is the good news, the album plays great! It is loud and crisp throughout,even during quiet passages. There is audible noise, however, it does very little to detract from the listening quality of the record, and is in actuality, mostly an afterthought.
