Description
Shirley Collins, along with contemporaries such as Martin Carthy, The Young Tradition and The Watersons, was a seminal figure in the English folk revival of the nineteen sixties. The Power of the True Love Knot was her third solo album. As well as Shirley's winsome vocals it featured her elder sister Dolly on pipe organ. In addition, two of the tracks, Bonnie Boy and Greenwood Laddie, feature the cello playing of Bram Martin who played on the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.
This album was subsequently re-released on the Hannibal label in the early nineteen eighties but this is the original 1968 release on the orange Polydor label, in stereo. This is a first pressing, with matrix numbers A1 and B1. The vinyl is in excellent condition. The laminated sleeve is in very good to excellent condition with no splits or tears and the spine fully intact, with no ringwear.
