Description
Here is a very rare pair of 12” LP acetates comprising the unreleased second and third discs from Trilogy, the set of three albums that Shawn Phillips presented to A&M Records in 1969 or 1970. As he details in this interview, the label instead released the more conventional tracks (mainly from the first disc Songs) as Contribution and Second Contribution, and shelved the rest. These second two parts of the trilogy were intended to be titled Spectrum Genesis and A Fale (The Beginning Of The End Of The Story), respectively. They include some very psychedelic tracks, some great understated songs and some lovely instrumentals. The titles of individual songs are a mystery to me. Both discs appear very clean, but have some pops and surface noise that might be alleviated by a deep cleaning. Listen below.
