Background: From Genesis To Revelations was the first Album by Genesis released in March 1969 on the Decca Label. Produced by Jonathan King, who discovered them back in 1967 , while the members of Genesis were pupils at Charterhouse School.
The LP featured the original line up: Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips & John Silver. The Album was recorded in August 1968 - While the boys were on school holidays and later over dubbed with strings and wind instruments arranged by Arthur Greenslade and Lou Warburton. Brian Roberts and Tom Allom the engineers while Jonathan King produced the Album.
From Genesis To Revelations was issued in a black sleeve with its title scribed in gothic gold on the top left and side. The Album Sleeve Did Not Make Any Mention Of The Groups Name. With little else to go by, the record shops placed the Album in the Religious Section . The Album Had Very Little Distribution Or Sales . It Is Believed That There Were Only Approx. 150 or 200 copies Pressed On This The Mono Version.
Condition : Album Sleeve:The Front Cover Is In Pretty Good Condition No Tears And Just A Small Creases . The Spine Is Good and Still Readable Just A Couple Of Small Marks But No Splitting. The Back Cover As Three Small Tears on It ( Please See Photos )
Lyric Insert: There Are Three Small Brown Marks On This But Otherwise No Tears And Very Readable Very Good Condition .
Inner Poly Sleeve: Red Mono No Tears and Still Very Readable Very Good Condition.
Vynil : The Record As A Slight Visual Warp On It But Plays With No Skips or Jumps. I have Test Played The Album And Listened To It Through Speakers And Also With Head Phones. Overall The Album Sounds Still Very Good But I have To Admit That There Is A Intermittent Back Ground Noise on Track 4 Side 1 The Serpent And Tracks 3 One Day And Track 4 Window On Side 2 .I Think This Will Be Caused By The Warping . There Are A Few Clicks and Pops in the Quit Bits . The Label Is In Good Condition With No Writing . I Always Make Every Effort To Give A Honest Description And Grading Of My Albums ( See My 100% Feed Back ) Over Past Few Years I Have Sold Many Expensive Albums Some In The Region Of £300.00 to £500.00 And Have Had No Complaints .
Grading : I Am Going To Grade This Album As Overall Good ( Vynil , Sleeve, Lyric Insert And Mono Poly Sleeve )
If this Album Was Graded Very Good Or Ex Condition It Would Be Worth Between £500.00 Or £1000.00. I am Starting The Auction at £250.00 For This Very Rare Album. I use Grading As Per Record Collector Guide .
