Description
Super rare Decca SXL 6426 original UK wideband pressing (ED3) with 1W and 3W matrix numbers. The sleeve is in near mint condition and the vinyl is VG+. Please read on.
The sleeve has minimal wear to the corners and spine. The only issues are that there is a red mark to the top of the rear cover. There is also a small blister to the laminate on the front cover towards the top of the spine. Please see the photos for more detail. The record comes with the original Decca inner sleeve.
The vinyl appears to be in superb condition and appears to have been rarely played. Under normal light both side are virtually pristine with the iridescence of the vinyl shiny and bright. Under a spot light very fine surface marks are visible to both sides, nothing more than where the disc has been taken in and out of its inner sleeve.
I have play tested the record in full (on a Linn Sondek with Linn Basik Plus arm and Audio Technica AT95e cartridge & stylus) With the following comments.
General . The disc is not warped. The outer edge of the disc moves up and down within a range of 2-3mm when rotating. Also there is an area of the disc (approx 10 o clock on side 1) towards the outer edge of the record that is lighter in colour than the rest. It is not noticeable when the record is stationary or when viewed under spotlight. However when the record rotates it is visible. It is exactly the same on side 2 to the area of the record directly underneath 10 oclock on side 1.
Side 1
In general the record plays almost faultlessly, there are no skips or jumps. There is some light sporadic background noise for the first 40secs. It really is minimal but I need to mention it. At Approx 2mins 15secs and 2.19 there is a momentary small audible distortion. There is another at 3.05. There is also a 'pop' at 4.15. These issues do not interrupt the flow of the music and they are literally momentary. In general the sound of the record is superb, it is amazing in its depth and fullness, it has been an absolute pleasure to play this record. The quieter sections of side 1 have occasional audible background noise but it really is absolutely minimal and is only what should be expected from any record that isnt in unplayed mint condition. If it wasnt for the 4 stated issues, side 1 would be graded near mint.
Side2
There are no issues at all. The record plays faultlessly with just some sporadic and very very light background noise to some of the quieter sections. I would grade side 2 at near mint.
The record will be securely packaged for delivery in a plastic record sleeve within a cardboard postage sleeve and finally bubble wrapped with outer packaging to ensure its safety.
