Description
The Royal Jesters, w/ Charlie and the Jives: My Angel of Love / Those Dreamy Eyes. Harlem 105, VG- (not much gloss; visible wear; some light scfs and scrs; very slight distorts; WOL side 1, as pictured; side 2 label is better.) The Royal Jesters were San Antonio's premier vocal group throughout the 1960s, and I believe this was their first record. "Angel" is a slow ballad; "Eyes" is mid-tempo. Nice back-up (pno, gtr, horns) by Charlie & Jives, another standout San Antonio band. Placeholder, but this one's hard to find. Recorded January 1960.
PayPal only. Add $3.50 for insured First Class mailing to USA adresses; $4.00 (no insurance) to Canada; or $5.00 (no insurance) anywhere else. Thanks for looking, and please see my Other Items for more scarce R-A-B, Tex-Mex and Swamp rock 45s from the late 1950s and early 1960s.
On Jul-31-12 at 21:35:04 PDT, seller added the following information:Lots of interest in this record so I gave it a second look and listen, just to be sure. Please note this additional information:
- There is "not much gloss" on the B side, but no gloss on the A side.
- The record has light noise, as you might expect. To my ears it's unobtrusive.
- The "very slight distorts" in some of the loud passages are probably due to groove wear but possibly because of a less-than-ideal recording or mix. I've never had a clean copy of this record so I can't compare, but I have had other Texas Sound Studio records that looked clean but sounded muddy.
Hope this helps; good luck if you decide to bid.
