I do not use near mint, or near mint minus very often.  But this is a really clean LP and cover ... either extremely well taken care of or hardly every played or taken off the shelf.

Possessing a fiery dynamism lacking in their debut Can't Slow Down, Saves the Day's sophomore release on Equal Vision is an emo core classic. More anxious than emo godfathers Get Up Kids, Saves the Day opted for punchier production and faster tempos to provide a backdrop for singer Chris Conley's romantic teen declarations. True to the genre Conley helped define, his lyrics walk a thin sentimental wire. Just when the stories lose balance, leaning toward the obvious, sappy, or both, Conley pulls it together with plain-spoken honesty, as in "Third Engine" when he describes seeing his long-distance love in the face of another girl while riding a train: "I looked out past her cheeks/Through the glass-light conduit/But the sun had sank already/Disappeared into New Jersey/Oh, why don't they have phones on these things." Conley's disclosures resonate wildly with his teen audience — validating their shallow, but still open wounds — while the band's tightly wound arrangements gyrate around his language of casual suffering. Highlights of this most elevated combination include the melodic, quick-paced "My Sweet Fracture" and "The Last I Told You." Ending Through Being Cool with the metallic "Banned From the Back Porch," Saves the Day toys with expectation, revealing an eagerness to explore outside the emocore form that is all but mastered on this 1999 release.

Grading …

We use the Goldmine system just like everyone else.  If you are a collector you are familiar with it … it’s been around for years.

For LP’s not in the collectable category, everything under $10 and most between $10 and $30, you are probably buying the LP just to enjoy.  So we try to note anything in this price range that will impact the listening experience.  The Goldmine system is really set-up for collectors who want to judge the condition just like you would a stamp or coin.  So once an LP gets below a VG+ in this system the LP will have enough visible scuffs and scratches to affect playback.  If the LP is rare enough it may still be worth lots of money.  But it may sound terrible.  Keep this in mind when comparing price and condition if you are buying more for pleasure.

Here is one other note on the listening experience.  Special attention is given to promos and early pressings and they are typically more expensive than the same commercially released equivalent.  The promo is not priced higher just because it is rare.  When a new LP is released the first pressings are sent out to the radio stations and DJs.  These are the promos and because they are the first pressings off the dies the sound quality may be significantly better than the commercial release.  

Cleaning … 

We installed a G.E.M. cleaning system.  This is the system designed by audiophile George Merrill of Analog Emporium.  You can read a review if interested at sixmoons dot com.  The system cleans and flushes the grooves resulting in a marked improvement in sound.  All LP’s in the $30 and above range will be cleaned prior to shipping.

If you are buying a less expensive LP and want your LP cleaned prior to shipping let us know.  This is not an automatic system but in our mind is safer and does a better job than the automated systems costing hundreds more.  Because each LP is cleaned by hand we will have to charge $4.00 for the service.

US

We ship LPs via USPS media mail.  The first LP is $3.98 and it's 50 cents for each additional LP.  Allow a week to get to the East Coast.  We try to make up for the added time by getting the orders out the door in a hurry and it seems to work.  If you need it quicker contact us for pricing.

Canada

We use USPS First Class International and it is $7.99 for the first LP, $3.50 each additional.  Quicker gets very expensive but if you need it let us know.

All other International locations

We use USPS First Class International and it is $14.99 for the first LP, $5.00 each additional.  Quicker options are extremely expensive but available if needed. 

Payment

We are pretty flexible ... all we really ask is you let us know what is going on.  If you are shopping around, or bidding on an auction at the same time you are buying from the store, just give us a heads up when you expect to finish.  Actually would rather you wait to pay until finished since PayPal does charge for every transaction.  So to offer the lowest possible combined shipping it works best to combine purchases under a single invoice.
