Description

Santana  "Santana"   ( 3rd LP)

This is an unusual US vinyl pressing on CBS KC 30595 from 1971.     It's almost like the regular US pressings, except for important minor differences.      The labels have 360 in white letters with no rim print and say 'CBS" instead of Columbia.    The labels have three indented rings : one is 1/2 inch from the center hole, one is 9/16 inch from the outer edge and the third is 3/4 inch fron the outer edge.       The gatefold cover is very glossy and is 1/8 inch shorter ( from top to bottom it measures 12 & 1/4 inch).      The background in the cover art is very black, where it was much browner on the original pressing.      The record numbers show KC 30595, like the original US pressing, BUT the logos show 'CBS" like a UK pressing.     On the inside gatefold cover the small print says 'Manufactured by CBS Records/CBS Inc/51 W. 52 Street, New York, NY Printed in USA'.

I got this and a few others like it, from a US military serviceman that was in SE Asia in the 70's.      I believe it is a US pressing made for export.     The matrix numbers are : Side one : AL-30595 B-318.   And side two : BL-30595  B-317.

Their third great album !!     Every song is good.     I remember playing this album over and over back in 1971.

Overall Condition is : Cover is M- /  Record is M-

The gatefold cover is Mint minus with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits.   The glossy cover has light overall wear.     The vinyl looks near mint and it plays near mint, with a few light handling marks.    The labels are perfect with no spindle marks.  The record comes in a form fitting clear plastic inner sleeve.

The songs are : Batuka, No One To Depend On, Taboo, Toussaint L'Overture, Everybody's Everything, Guajira, Jungle Strut, Everything's Coming Our Way, and Para Los Rumeros.

About Me :

I started collecting records in 1966.     I started selling in Goldmine in 1985.      I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby.       And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.     My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides.

Postage :  Weight : 1 pound 7 ounces

You have to pay for the postage.     I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office charges.   There are no handling charges.     This record will weigh 23 ounces ( 1 pound, 7 ounces ) when ready to ship.   US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an automatic email with the tracking number.      Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International.    You will get an automatic email with the customs/tracking number.      ( Buyers from Italy must assume all risks for shipping to their country. )      I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday)   I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.      Please wait for me to send you an invoice for all of your records in one package.

Serious Bidders Only :

Serious bidders only.    If you bid you must be prepared to honor your bid.     I expect payment within three days, but will wait up to seven days, if you contact me.      I no longer accept bids from buyers with more than two strikes against them.
