Description

Samhain Initium LP 1984 Plan 9 PL9-04 original FIRST PRESS VG+ Small Ring Cut Edge with Insert

The vintage insert was added after original record purchase at Paychecks Bar or Dearborn Records in Detroit. This record was photographed for a book but the book never happened. It was photographed because a major local Initium collector said he has never seen this record with original shrink still on the record. So, apparently this is super rare. I guess you can do your own research.

The vinyl itself has the s straight sharp edge that is the true sign of the original pressing. The story is the album was not going to be finished before Samhains tour so the band payed the record press company a surprise visit. The band basically demanded they press the records because they needed them before they hit the road. I guess Glen was hand cutting the edges so that’s why it has a sharp edge. Refer to the second from last photo in listing. They also mixed in white pellets to transition the black to white. Those records go for a lot of cash. I thought this record had hints of the white but my collector friend was not sold on that. I will leave that to his expertise. Note my last photo.

If I recall correctly Paycheck in Detroit was the first stop of the tour.

The Samhain Initium LP from 1984 on Plan 9 is a highly sought-after first pressing in a cardboard sleeve. This punk record features a 12" vinyl in black with a small ring with sharp cut record edge. This record is a must have for any punk collector unique addition to any music collector's collection. Was grade by a friend as very good plus (VG+) record grading and very good (VG) sleeve grading, this vintage 1980s album showcases the iconic style of the era and is a must-have for fans of Samhain and punk music of the 1980s.
