Description
This is Sam Morgan's Jazz Band 78 RPM recording of Short Dress Gal and Bogalousa Strut on Columbia 14539.
There is a 2 inch crack that runs through both sides that creates pops most of the way through each side. However, it does not skip or otherwise affect play and gets quieter and disappears as each side runs along. There is also some surface paint at the end of Side B which causes some additional distortion, but again it still plays through without skipping.
Side A: Short Dress Gal
Side B: Bogalousa Strut
Overall, a decent version of a rare record.
The record will be very well packed and protected for shipping.
*** I have been asked to add a VJM based rating. I have a couple thousand records in my collection so I think I'm pretty fair, but please note I am not a professional grader.
I would rate this record visually overall as a solid V+ to E-. Note the crack that runs 2.5 inches on both sides at the top. That aside, it has moderate remaining gloss with minor scratches, and scuffs from playing on both sides. There is also the small patch of surface paint on side B, but plays through on my Dual 1019 with Shure cartridge. The labels are in V+ to E- shape but intact although faded, with a small (1/8") scratch/tear at the bottom of side B.
