Sad Day We Left The Croft Punk / New Wave Compilation.
Very Rare Vinyl LP compilation of Isle of Lewis punk and new wave bands recorded in 1980 at Tong Studio.
The vinyl is in excellent condition. There is some light surface noise between tracks and there are some light clicks in the run -in groove prior to music starting and an occasional click during play but the vinyl is very clean throughout.
I have owned this record for over 30 years and never played it until now while checking it for it for grading. I bought it in the 1980's because I liked the photo on the sleeve.
Musically there are clear Clash / Joy Division / PIL influences and some good old DIY two chord punk bands with biscuit tins for drums!! There is one band who seemed like they were trying to be Dire Straits.... no excuse for this - however they are clearly in a different musical league. I think the lead singer of the Dirty Girls may have since been arrested - check out the lyrics.....
The sleeve itself is in very good condition overall but unfortunately has 2 x10 cm splits along the seam where time has taken it's toll. Please look at the photos.
Please also see the photos for the track listing for what it is worth - none of the bands went on to fame and stardom. It is very difficult to assess the value of this record. I know it has sold for as much as £80 in the past but I will listen to offers......
I would love this record to go back home to the crofters of Lewis....
