Description
This is a wonderful record. It's by Syd Barrett, formerly of The Pink Floyd and is his first LP on the UK Harvest label entitled 'The Madcap Laughs' from 1970 (catalogue no. SHVL 765). The record includes the boxed EMI logo on both labels but I believe that this is an early pressing, looking at the matrix numbers. I can be corrected by the experts. This is a stereo pressing.Syd is sadly missed.
OUTER SLEEVE - The gatefold sleeve which is laminated on the outside is in fine condition with minor wear on the front and some ring wear on the front and rear. The edges and spine are in wonderful condition. The wording along the spine is 100% readabl. It states on the rear cover - '6911 TPS - Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London -SHVL 765'. I have graded the sleeve as Ex+.
INNER SLEEVE - This is an EMI Harvest sleeve with a number of black and white LP covers of albums by contemporary artists. It has an inner plastic sleeve. This inner bag is in Ex-- condition.
RECORD - The record itself looks very clean with some superficial minor marks which do not affect the quality of the recording. There is some definite surface noise over the two sides of the record and there are very occasional pops and clicks on both sides. There are definitely no jumps on any of the tracks. The labels are in fine condition with some minor spindle marks. There is no damage to the labels on either side. These labels feature the EMI logo on the left hand side. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - SHVL 765 A - 2G (stampers 1 GO) - side two - SHVL 765 B - 2G (stampers 1 CR). I have graded the record as Ex and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. All my items are 100% guaranteed and can be returned for a full refund if the buyer is not satisfied with the product. Please see my feedback for any references required.
TRACK LISTING - SIDE ONE - TERRAPIN, NO GOOD TRYING, LOVE YOU, NO MAN'S LAND, DARK GLOBE, HERE I GO - SIDE TWO - OCTOPUS, GOLDEN HAIR,+, LONG GONE, SHE TOOK A LONG COLD LOOK, FEEL, IF IT'S IN YOU, LATE NIGHT.
BAND MEMBERS - I'M HONESTLY NOT SURE - CAN ANYONE HELP? THE MUSICIANSHIP IS SUPERB. AND I'VE DONE MY HOMEWORK. I JUST CAN'T FIND OUT WHO PLAYED ON THIS GREAT RECORD. THE ALBUM WAS PRODUCED BY DAVID GILMOUR AND ROGER WATERS. I SUSPECT THAT THEY AND OTHER PINK FLOYD MEMBERS PLAYED ON IT. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW, BUT I DON'T.
