An overall excellent condition copy, with the highlights being the barely played, gleaming vinyl and superb stereo audio quality, of this extremely rare and hugely sought after long lost UK 1st press folk gem, on the private SWORDEDGE record label, stereo, SW001

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  SWORDEDGE Side One - 1 and etched NR GR 1 MPKT  T max (very hard to make out)

Side 1  SWORDEDGE Side Two - 2  and etched NR GR 1  MPKT  T max  (very hard to make out)

Rarer than rare 1980 UK 1st press folk gem on the private "SWORDEDGE RECORDS" record label. Very sparingly played gleaming, jet black sheen vinyl  - if you strain your eyes with close inspection under a bright light you may just be able to make out a couple of faintest of faint small, light scuff marks, otherwise perfect : truly remarkable for a rare 40 year old vinyl antiquity such as this! Each label is near perfect - again, with really close scrutiny it is just possible to make out x3 very small extremely faint spindle trails on each label, otherwise pristine. The condition of the original (and notoriously fragile) outer sleeve is very good...certainly presentable & functional but there are some blemishes : the edges are firm but there is some light, intermittent scuffing on the top and bottom edges, a few "nicks" on the edges and sides due to general shelf wear, a little rubbing on the corners (which nonetheless remain nicely right-angled), a few "nicks" on the spine (which nonetheless remains firm and with all writing intact), some mild ring wear towards the top and bottom edges, and a little mild stain towards the top corner on the reverse side. The audio quality is superb : no sticks, repeats, clicks, interference or background crackle - great tone & clarity throughout with great musicianship & haunting vocals. So hard to find, especially with vinyl (and accompanying audio quality) in as impressive condition as this.

Comes with original plain white poly-lined inner with correct "PATENT Nos..." and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" text - no seam splits, tears, or creasing - just a little age discolouration down the sides. Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new poly-lined plain white inner sleeve for shipping purposes and in order to protect the original.

A serious addition to any folk vinyl collection - extremely rare, highly sought after, and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard mailer, along with extra protective flange edges, with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
