Dutch pressing of this fantastic first LP by the Dutch Canterbury-influenced band. A must for fans of Egg, The Nice, Arzachel, and especially early Soft Machine. Condition:

Huge debut for Supersister, one the best prog bands ever. We can say they have Cantebury influence and this is right, but this album is much more than Canterbury, very fresh, playful and changeful, much more twisted than band like Caravan or Soft Machine. They can be easily compared to the french band Moving Gelatine Plates. The band is leaded by one of the best prog keyboards Robert-Jan Stips, but all the memebers are incredible musicians. Other thing i really enjoy in this album the incredible vocal parts, incredible mature for a band of an average age of 15/16 years old. Concluding it's a really mastership of prog, an album able to interpratate the sophisticated atmosphere of canterbury with a crazy, fresh touch.
Supersister is definitely one of the best dutch progressive rocks bands, if not the best. With their debut album "Present from Nancy" they put themselves on the map. It is not only a highlight in dutch recording history but also for the Canterbury scene. Because if one should categorize Supersister they fit best with the Canterbury bands. The music is mostly instrumental. When they sing the lyrics are humorous. The musicianship of the four members is excellent. The music is best recognised by the fuzz organ of Stips (and his voice of course), the jazzy rhythm which is layed out by drummer Vrolijk and bass player van Eck and the flute and saxes from van Geest.
The album itself consists of four long tracks (divided in subtracks) and one short and funny one: Corporation Combo Boys. The first two are typical Supersister tracks: jazzy and a bit psychedelic. "Present from Nancy" is all instrumental, on "Memories are new" you can hear vocals for the first time. The subtrack "11/8" sounds a lot like early Soft Machine and "Dreaming wheelwhile" is very relaxed and dreamy. "Metamorphosis" is a heavy, canterburish song. The album ends with the peaceful, atmospheric "Dona nobis pacem" (give us peace).
