"AN 'OUTSIDER' MINI-MASTERPIECE!!"

One of the LAST SURVIVING MEMBERS of Andy Warhol's Factory "Superstars"...

THE SUPERDUDE STORY...

"Superdude has spent a long time getting you ready for him. He was the boy star of the Brighton Beach water shows--as a stripling he became a regular at The Factory with gossip his specialty and always guaranteed Warhol's ear: the class photo of "Andy Warhol's Superstars" has placed him in that very spot. [SEE Ebay PHOTOS FOR THIS RECORD - "ANDY WARHOL GROUP SHOT" - UPPER RIGHT CORNER]

Jackie Curtis introduced him to Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company; he appeared in five productions there ("Turds In Hell," "Whores Of Babylon," "Bluebeard," "Eunuchs Of The Forbidden City" and one he can't, for the life of him, remember). David Johansen used to play guitar for them, and Superdude - then just Dude (his middle name) - determined that Rock And Roll was going to be the life for him.

Dude morphed into Superdude, rock and roll star. Along with Pergamo and P's brother Ace on drums they became The Stonemen, playing Max's Kansas City, CBGB'S, Kenny's Castaways, Great Gildersleeves, and the Mercer Arts Center -- everywhere fabulous stuff was going on. He became a downtown celeb, with bands like Kiss and The New York Dolls having him MC their shows. Everything was happening for the 'dude, and for Pergamo, whose own band, Nuclear Energy, was also doing great with a '83 Billboard top album pick with "Ground Zero." Then, a car accident took Ace's life, and left Pergamo badly injured. It took five years for Pergamo to fully recuperate and both bands languished.

While everyone else in New York was turning into yuppies, 'dude spent the latter '80s lying about on European beaches and having a very good time in Amsterdam."

THIS RECORDING, A NYC-BASED SYNTH RARITY, HAS BEEN RE-RELEASED IN VARIOUS FORMATS.

BUT THIS IS THE ORIGINAL!!!

NOT A RE-RELEASE, NOR BOOTLEG...

...AND IT'S GOOD!!

"Here's a throwback to the screwball days of new wave, when oddballs and madcaps from Lene Lovich to the Flying Lizards were played in dance clubs frequented by folks in space-age duds. The hair-shocked, cartoonish Superdude, who goes back to the Andy Warhol Factory days, sings comic street lyrics like a punk rock baboon over an electronic synth disco shake beat. Funny stuff ... Somewhere, the late Klaus Nomi is smiling." -- ALL MUSIC
"Over the past few years I gotta admit to having a passing interest in some of those outta-nowhere sixties/seventie vintage New York City rockin' outsider types who somehow seemed to weather the storm and continued on their own perhaps-uncharted courses long after you'd have thought their shelf lives would've worn out for good. First there was David Peel who dealt us two very good slabs of street-trash before John Lennon boosted his stock a few points in the early seventies; later on there was "quirky" folksinger David Roter who hung around the Stoneybrook/Meltzer/Dictators axis before finally recording a number of albums (plus a single) on the Unknown Tongue label, none of which featured his original folk stylings. I'm sure we could add a few more people to the list like perhaps Von Lmo and Sandy Bull as well as Ruby Lynn Reyner if you wanna get female about it. And of course, as if you haven't figured it out by now, there's this Superdude guy who has been performing his maybe not-so-particular brand of underground rock funzies for an audience that I guess has been appreciative enough,

From what else I can discern Superdude has been around much longer than the seedy late-seventies, even being a part of the 1968-vintage Andy Warhol Family as you can easily enough find out from his myspace bio. This must make him either a pretty "with-it" sexagenarian or a guy who hasn't given two whits about the growth and development of music over the past three decades to which I say it's all the better! " -- BACK TO COMM FANZINE

"Ran into a 45 at work today by "Superdude" a song called "Face the Music" It had one of the all time dumbest photos I've ever seen on the sleeve, but being from the 80's I listened to it anyway. I was shocked to hear a synth heavy song with music and vocals that sounded remarkably similar to the band Mythos.
I imagine it's rare as hell and I already know from listening to it it's crazy weird." - Spectre General
"I kinda like it. Actually, I think it's hilarious!" - Cispas
