THE PEOPLES PEOPLE present The Spirit of David LP
Up for auction is the LP, "The Peoples People present The Spirit of David" by the group, The Peoples People -- privately pressed through their own "Voice of the People Record Co." label.
It's a spiritual jazz LP recorded on the U.S. West Coast, but it's famous for the song "Fritz" which is nearly 18 minutes long and is just about the nicest piece of West Coast Jazz Funk you'll ever hear. This is album-only funk!
According to various sources only 500 copies were pressed. The low pressing number would seem accurate because the cover is actually hand printed using a silkscreen process (including the back cover and liner notes). It's likely that with the ravages of time, and the fragility of the printed surface of the hand-printed sleeve, these are getting SCARCE!

Recorded at MANTRA STUDIOS in San Mateo, California, January 31, 1976 (so really still 1975!)

The back cover of the album carries the following messages "Take this medication for anxiety, fatigue, dispair loneliness, dosage: 1-2 times daily. Dr Jones" and "Produced & Directed entirely by The Creator"
The album has never been properly reissued for a number of reasons: difficulty contacting the original copyright holders and the fact that very few people have a copy of even the original LP let alone access to the studio reels.

The Bad News:
Vinyl Surface Grade: VG (vinyl is still glossy, but there are light visible scuffs on both sides) Side A has intermittent surface noise at low volume as does Side B. Side B is in much better shape. There are no skips when playing either side.
The Good News:
Sleeve is in VG + No rips or tears please consult pictures. Hand silk-screened.
