Description
"SUNSHINE SUPERMAN" - DONOVAN. 1967 UK ISSUE MONO LP: NPL 18181 on the PYE Record Label. Produced by Mickie Most.
Donovan (born Donovan Philips Leitch) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist. Emerging from the British folk scene, he developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, and psychedelia.
He was one of the leading British recording artists of his day and produced a series of hit albums and singles between 1965 and 1970
This is a "hard to find" MONO UK pressing (A-!;B-1) of "Sunshine Superman" which is his third album. It was released in the US in September 1966, but was not released in the UK because of a contractual dispute, between Pye and Epic. In June 1967, a compilation of the US issued "Sunshine Superman" and "Mellow Yellow" albums was released in the UK on the PYE label, simply called: "Sunshine Superman". NPL 18181
These recordings mark a distinct change in Donovan's music. A full rock band backs him on many of the songs, and the instrumentation has been expanded to include sitar and other instruments. This change was partially the result of working with producer Mickie Most,
Included here is "Bert's Blues" written for his friend and guitar legend, the now late Bert Jansch, and "Legend of a Girl Child Linda" which was written for Brian Jones' girlfriend Linda Lawrence, who was later to be Donovan's long term partner, wife and muse.

SOMETIMES WHEN THE NETWORK IS BUSY YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES FOR ALL THE PHOTO’S TO LOAD UP
CONDITION:
RECORD - HEAVY THICK VINYL (189gms), THE DISC PLAYS SUPERB, WITH ALMOST NO SURFACE NOISE AND IS VERY NEAR TO MINT: NEAR MINT
COVER - LAMINATED FLIPBACK. SADLY THE SPINE TOTALLY LETS THIS COVER DOWN, (see photo's), YOU CAN READ THE SPINE EASILY AT THE TOP AND LOWER ENDS, WHICH ARE GOOD, BUT THE WHOLE MIDDLE SECTION HAS BEEN BADLY DAMAGED, AND HAS BEEN SELLOTAPED. APART FROM THAT, THE LAMINATED FRONT ONLY HAS TWO LIGHT SMALL CREASES AND THE MATT BACK IS VERY CLEAN, THERE IS A LITTLE WEAR TO THE OPENING EDGE.
IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE SPINE , THE COVER WOULD RATE A STRONG EX+. I WILL LET THE VIEWER DECIDE HOW TO GRADE IT OVERALL AS IT IS.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A SKILLFULL HAND MIGHT BE ABLE TO IMPROVE THE SPINE CONSIDERABLY.
