Sun Ra and His Astro-Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra
'The Perfect Man' / 'I'm Gonna Unmask the Batman' condition: visual vg/vg-, marks and light scratches; play grade: 'perfect man' plays a decent vg+/ex (listen to clip. 'Batman' plays vg- with crackle and noise, but still enjoyable. one-sided label: green on 'perfect man', batman is blank. All copies of this title are like this. I have compared to different copies and the play grades are substantially similar, despite visual differences. Saturn 45s tended to be pressed badly, and are rarely in really good condition.

Released in 1974, it’s tempting to see the ferocious moog workout on ‘The Perfect Man’ as a slightly wayward counterpart to Fred Wesley and the JB’s synth-lead funk classic ‘Blow Your Head’, released in the same year. Flipside to ‘I’m gonna unmask the Batman’, one of Ra’s most oddball single cuts, the skittering drums and strident horns of ‘The Perfect Man’ almost arrive in funk territory, only to have Ra’s jarring synthesizer solo lead it far astray.
