This classic first press plays with stunning quality and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.  Put simply there is no background worthy of mention and the clarity, depth and power of the audio is sensational.  Each note is so sharp and precise and so warm also.  It's important that it plays well because this is an album with a number of quiet section and I cannot emphasise enough just how well it plays!  It has to be one of the cleanest LPs I have ever played from that classic prog era and I am sure the winning bidder will be just as impressed an I am with the sonic quality.  The vinyl is in great condition also with barely any marking.
Musically this is such a strong album and it's a shame they didn't receive more recognition.  They only released one other album but not in the UK.  It was only made available in Germany and France I think.
I've checked and double-checked and I do think the front laminated cover deserves an Ex- grading.  It has a little but this is mainly restricted to the back and any marking is light anyway.  The poly-lined inner is superb although probably not the original as it is dated 5-74.
This first pressing has very early stampers also - C1 and U1.

Visual description
The vinyl is in great condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  There are a couple of very small faint scuffs but they have no affect on the superb audio and looking under a bright light I can only see a small number of very faint hairlines.  There is no groove or surface wear and the red / white Deram labels are near perfect with no marking and hardly any spindle wear.  The S2 run out off has a little faint marking but the JT tax stamp can easily be seen on both the run offs.
Play Grading
The run in on S1 is so clean and the intro on 'Sail On' is nigh in perfect with only a couple of barely audible statics.  Cregan's opening vocal section has no background - it may not be the strongest and is a little low in the mix but there is no doubting the audio quality.  The mid instrumental plays with impeccable clarity and depth also and the final vocal / instrumental is just as strong and clear.  The fade out section is incredibly clean with zero background.  I will say Mint- but I'm sure no-one would argue if the minus wasn't there!
The quieter 'Turn Over the Pages' plays with stunning clarity through every section.  I cannot fault this version - it plays beautifully and the clarity of sound is out of this world!  You can hear every instrument so clearly, every note so precise.  I think I detected a flute and a violin in there!  It has to grade as Mint- at the very least.
The opening section on '1112235' is so quiet for the vast majority and yet the clarity is unbelievable!  There is no intrusion, just a couple of very quiet statics and the audio really is crystal clear.  Remember this record is 54 years old and this entire section plays like it has never been on a turntable before.  As the volume increases the depth and power is sensational and it continues to impress.  This high octane section is 'as new' and Wilson's percussive piece which contains many quieter elements is on the same level.  I can't quite believe what I am listening to!  The clarity is STUNNING in every way and the final section incorporating more of McCracken's and Cregan's work is flawless.  To find this 12 minute instrumental 'improv' playing with such finesse is a genuine rarity and I defy anyone to find a better version!  It is the definitive version in my opinion and Mint- is again fully deserved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro 'Harpo's Head' plays with 100% precision and it continues in the same exact way.  There is no 'muddiness' to the sound which is why McCracken's strong bass sound really stands out and sonically the entire track is just stunning.  From the first note to the last there is literally no background not even during the very quiet section, no dust ticks, nothing!  Audio does not get any better!  Cregan's vocal near the end is perfect and the 'heavy' instrumental that ends the track can only be described 'as new'.  A STUNNING Mint version.
'Horizon' is of course made up of two separate sections ands the first part, 'Here' plays beautifully from the outset.  The acoustic intro and opening vocal play with immaculate precision and it continues to play with sublime clarity and warmth.  I heard only a couple of minor statics, so quiet you could easily miss them.  The quiet closing section plays perfectly and the segue into 'There', is the same.  The next more powerful instrumental has no background and Cregan's opening vocal has no intrusion either, no surprise there!  It gets louder as it progresses and yet there is no distortion and again Cregan's guitar work is stunning.  It's so 'busy' during this section and yet you can hear each note so succinctly.  The closing section is just as strong and the fade out has zero background.  This 11 minute epic deserves a Mint grading as it just could not play any better.  It exemplifies just how good musically this trio were.
The final track 'Song' plays with stunning precision through every vocal and instrumental section.  Being an acoustic number there is no hiding place and indeed there is no interference of any kind.   Once again wonderful clarity, depth and warmth and Mint all the way.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
As stated the front laminated cover is in excellent shape for the majority.  The edges have no rubbing and the spine is excellent with only some minor indents and a couple of very small horizontal crease lines.  The corners have very little wear and the opening edge has barely any handling wear.  The front cover is super clean but does have some small laminate crease lines next to the spine, the colours however remain strong and vibrant.  The back cover is largely white of course and has a little marking / spotting but not an excessive amount.  One small mark top left also.  A strong example overall.
The blue poly-lined stereo inner sleeve is in superb shape with no side splits or tears, no marking and hardly any creasing.  As stated it is dated 5-74.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
