This is "STRING DRIVEN THING" on concord records CON - S 1001.
An ORIGINAL private press from this Glasgow band in their infancy. A private press none the less!!!! And strictly limited to - (99) copies only. And getting more scarce as you read this.
This happens to be one of now only possibly (65) worldwide copies that exist today in 2012 over 40 years in age & still sounding great.
To this date over something like (25) have already been sold I believe. So if you think about it...Possibly there could only be a few about today that are in decent condition. Or most have been at worst, dumped! or played out by the owners? unknowingly, of the records actual rarity today in 2012.
Most people would probably not be aware of this bands 1ST pressing. And not suprisingly!
Original provinance :
This comes from someone who had been at a party with a member of the band. I Don't know exactly which member it was? but it was in (1968) Or thereabout.
Heres a little history of where it has actually came from....
After a show of "STRING DRIVEN THING" in East Kilbride - Which is about (9) miles outside of Glasgow city. The band had an "after" party to celabrate this record being pressed & released. The record thats featured this listing came DIRECT from one of the members either as a gift or as a purchase at... Or after the show.
For this fact I've set a respectfull reserve down to the EXTREME rarity.
PLEASE NOTE : a very low starting price was decided by myself as to give everyone/anyone interested a chance to own & give it a new caring home as pride of place in their collection.
I find the fact of the above forementioned which is the truth. An even more plausible fact or proof (if you already now the history) just to how RARE this actually is in the world of record collecting.
It ranks alongside some of the top rarites on the planet without a doubt!!
For your info...
Actual condition is as follows below.....
THe cover :
Is as mint as you could wish for. I have not taken it out of this hard polythene protector even for these photographs taken. A "GARROD & LOFTHOUSE" design and manufacture, with clarifoil laminate.
This has a flipback cover design with all tabs intact & free from any ripping or damage. A STUNNING COVER no negative issues to list, simply MINT condition. I happily give this grading as you will see for yourself in the close up photographs taken below, how nice a cover this is. No effects have been added. The condition is immaculate for a cover thats over four decades in age. No need to list any negatives such as ripping, damp, tear, ringwear or any handwritten names (its a pity it was not asked to have been signed though).
The labels :
Concord ORIGINAL 1968 are in Vg++ condition. A few spindle marks that are only visable in a direct intense white light. No ripping or any of the above forementioned issues, that would be a negative to list. Both of these have been scrutinised & looked at under bright halogen bulb. They are I would say 80% out of 100%. Still pretty impressive. In daylight conditions these appear on both sides perfectly acceptable and correct for the age. This minor issue mentioned should not be of any major concern, and on my part again is being very critical in this description. Please see close up photographs below....
The actual record itself :
Has no warping and sits perfectly flat on a turntable. No dust, or ingrained damp, no scratched marks or signs of needle thrasing. Only a good few hairlined wispy fracture marks are visable these are caused only by the record being taken in or out of the dust inner. And are ONLY visable under intense bright light & when scrutinised they totally do not affect any audible play.
This is a very clean looking and sounding example to be offered. (I don't see the point otherwise?) In normal conditions when viewed this vinyl is as perfect as could be wished for. No chips or damages, no scratched heavy marks, no dinks or bumps, blemish or warping.
The test play audio :
I'am happy to say is very impressive. Overall Its about 90% out of 100% audio wise. Very, very minimal background noise (may be heard between gaps. Although as a positive there are definately no skipbacks, or locked jumps, no pops or major issues. You will love the psyched out tracks of this bands original sound, from 1968 before becoming a worldwide internationally known act. INCDREDIBLE as the members were only aged - 22 - 24 at the time. Have a look at the pics of the back cover & credits. Extra large view below the end of this description.
The original patented dust inner contains the record number : 1,125,555. Excellent condition.
Not much more to say than I hope your happy to see this on offer from myself, and please see the other extra rare records on offer this listing. BEST OF LUCK.
Please note this will be posted in a custom made box mailer as shown in the box below....Record stored outside of cover to avoid any possible damage in transit. And has to be insured for postsage domestic or overseas. This must be payed for at the end of the auction.
Thanks.

>> Grading of Items All items are graded conservatively according to Record Collectors Grading System Record Collectors Grading system
Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condiition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displayes no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any moajor defects is acceptable
Good (G) Te record has been played so much that the sound quality has notceably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
CD's and CASSETTES As a general rule CD's and Cassettes either play perfectly - inwhich case they are in Mint condition - or they don't, in which case their value is minimal. Cassette tape is liable to deteriorate with age, even if it remains unplayed, so care should be taken when buying old tapes. CD's are difficult to grade visually; they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Cassette and CD inlays and booklets should be graded in the same way as record covers and sleeves. In general, the plastic containers for cassettes and CDs can easily be replaces if they are broken or scratched, but card covers and digipaks are subject to the same wear as record sleeves
