MICK JAGGAR GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY - Bootleg-savvy Stones fans understand why Mick Jagger's solo albums tend to be curiously pop-precious and testosterone-challenged; if Keith Richards had his druthers, we'd likely have Exile on Main Street Vol. XI by now. Indeed, given Jagger's decades-old rep as the most virile dinosaur of the herd, it can be jarring to have the Vulnerable Mick ponder "Wonder if you catch my mood / Can you feel my solitude?" as the strings well on this album's "Don't Call Me Up." But then, being a caricature so large (and ludicrous) can drive an artist to do desperate things, like sewing his heart firmly to his sleeve in a quest for Truth. Infused with a welcome sense of renewed musical adventure on tracks like the jangly, alterna-nervous collaboration WITH LENNY KRAVITZ, "God Gave Me Everything," the East-West fusion of the title track, and the modern techno-murk of "Gun" (both cowritten with coproducer Matt Clifford), the icon seems finally to have found a solo persona that fits: Spiritually Awakened World-Weary Rebel. There's even a devoutly uplifting, -PETE TOWNSHEND backed duet with Bono ("Joy") that among other things, makes the U2 singer's reservations at Jurassic Park all but official. Still, it's hard to teach an old cur new licks; the best here is undercut by genuflections to chart-conscious predictability (the Rob Thomas collaboration "Visions of Paradise") and hoary-ironic arena-ready sentiments like "Everybody Getting High" (with guest guitar deity/substance abuse expert Joe Perry) that KEITH RICHARDS must understand all to well.

RON WOOD- MY favorite Ron Wood LP. There is just a groove, a feel to the whole album very upbeat, a party like atmosphere and it reflects in all of the songs. Woody's never been a great vocalist, but these songs suit his abilities just fine. "Worry no more" opens the CD, a boozy bar anthem with a loud chorus and "We all get old" also is a standout cut. What Woody lacks in range, he makes up for with passion. Overall, it's just an upbeat album that is allot of fun to listen to, you can tell everyone had a great time recording it. As usual, the guitar playing is top notch, with great rythms and slide guitar. A must for any Ron Wood fan.  -

Included as a special bonus is "Hurricane", which was previously available only to those who donated to Hurricane Katrina relief at stops on the last Rolling Stones tour. Fans have long sought wider access to this acoustic gem. COLLECTOR S PACKAGING - Vintage Vinos: Limited Edition Vinyl is a 2-LP set on red vinyl. Gatefold packaging, with three sides of music and a fourth side features an etching of the iconic image used on the album s cover. This collection also includes lithograph prints of the album covers from Keith s first three solo albums

As we discovered in the pages of his autobiography LIFE, Keith Richards is proud, justifiably so, of his great band. No, not that one. The X-Pensive Winos, the group he formed in 1987 when the Rolling Stones were on hiatus. The band had an A-list lineup with Steve Jordan and Charlie Drayton sharing duties on drums and bass, Waddy Wachtel - the American Keith Richards - on guitar, Ivan Neville on keys and the Stones frequent collaborator Bobby Keyes on saxophone. Sarah Dash, one-time member of Labelle, shared lead vocals with Richards, who played guitar and fronted the band.
