One of the so-called "bubblegum" sound pioneers, the 1910 Fruitgum Company began their career with three million-selling singles, and arguably their best is the title track (1,2,3, Red Light) with its timeless melodic...groove. This type of song is assembled across both sides of the album for an act whose catchy sixties rock records still fill dance floors the world over. The term "bubblegum" may have originally been coined in 1967 by the "serious rock" brigade as a put-down of music aimed at a young teen audiences, but much of it was written and performed by solid musicians with a knack for infectious melodies. This is exactly the kind of sixties "bubblegum" album that is now viewed with a fresh appreciation, highlighted by 'The Mighty Quinn" "Yummy Yummy Yummy" and more alike ...aiming at the 'toytown' sounds of the UK (The Move, Idle Race etc etc) The 1910 Fruitgum Company stands tall along the classics.
