Hi! You're looking at a BRAND NEW LP which is STILL SEALED in the ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINKWRAP and a 1965 V-I-E Studios label issue of a Field Recording of a Round Trip journey of The Philadelphia and Western Railroad, the Philadelphian Suburban Transportation Company train which was the last true electric interurban railway in the United States. The album and the cover and is in PERFECT shape. The LP is titled "Steel Wheels--Open Track." The LP is on the STEEL WHEELS--OPEN TRACK label of Media, Pennsylvania and was issued in the United States in 1965.
The Philadelphia and Western (A Philadelphia Transportation Company property) was the last remaining, true, electric interurban railway left in America at the time of this recording. It operated in Eastern Pennsylvania, connecting Philadelphia with Norristown via a scenic, highly diversified route. Two distinct types of equipment were being used: The older "160 Series" generally saw local surface, while the sleek, fast "200 Series" Brill Bullets ran express schedules. The entire line is on private-right-of-way, and third rail powered.
Using chartered cars, V-I-E Studios has constructed an accurate, exciting and fast moving round trip on this unusual railway.
